Canada's Island TreasureRich in culture and history, Cape Breton is an actual Island
off the north east coast of Nova Scotia, and jutting into the Atlantic
Ocean. Cape Breton is separated from the mainland by the Strait of
Canso. The Canso Causeway, completed on December 10, 1954, is the only
'road to the isle'. This geographical isolation is part of what makes
Cape Breton such a lush, unique, and undisturbed setting. So Much Beauty, So Little Time!
Famous for its rugged mountain coastal highway used in many car
commercials, Cape Breton's natural beauty is awe-inspiring. With so
much rich forest, lakes and the Atlantic ocean, there is also so much
to do such as boat tours and sightseeing, outdoor sports, salt water
fishing, hiking and camping, nature walks, horseback riding,
beachcombing. You can also ride the ocean waves on boogie boards, go
snorkeling, play horseshoes and lawn games - or just relax by the ocean
and take it all in. Live History LessonsThe fortress of Louisbourg is also a major
historical highlight, with real people dressed in period costumes
acting out roles, as is the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. You can also
visit the popular Glenora Distilleries, or take in the many festivals
and events, or listen to live Celtic music, popular throughout the
province. |
